The History of Diebold
Diebold is a company based on Ohio, America, started in 1859. This is still around now and comprises of many offices around the world, named after the original locksmith called Charles Diebold. Back in history, when the Chicago fire destroyed much of the city, the safes survived this destruction. Even now they are still producing safes, and some of the oldest safes are still around now.
What Makes These Antique Safes so Special?
When you think about an antique safe you may not think that it’s anything special at all. However, the truth is that not all safes are exactly the same, and Diebold safes in particular are valuable as well as looking extremely beautiful. They are all hand crafted and many will argue that they are works of art.

Cannonball safes, for example, are so-called because of their round shape on a square base. What Should You Do If You think You Have One?
If you think you have one of these safes then you’ll want to make sure that it really is a Diebold. You should not just take the word of the seller, but make sure you do your own research. This is because people really will charge a lot of money for a true Diebold, especially since they are so sturdy and beautiful.
It’s useful to be able to check out the safe before you buy it. Check that it’s in a good condition, that it comes with the brand name on it, and that it still works. And, to be even safer, you should get it approved by an expert. Don’t waste your money – make sure it’s the real deal!
